Joaquin Noguera, Planning and Training Officer

Joaquin Noguera is a doctoral student in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA and a member of the education faculty at Bard College’s Masters in Teaching program. His work examines how schools can mitigate the effects of poverty and marginalization and support transformative, culturally and locally responsive education. Prior to his doctoral studies, Joaquin worked as a social worker in central Harlem and as a K-12 teacher and school leader in New York City. Recruited to be a consultant for an international education consulting group following the evaluation of his own school, Joaquin has supported and led school and district development and improvement projects throughout the United States, including providing coaching and mentoring for teachers and school leaders, leading and facilitating developmental evaluations and strategic planning, improving lesson and curriculum design and delivery, and improving collaborative processes, group cohesion and organizational culture.
